The Assembly was reminded that the Council’s primary function was that of assisting/offering advice to the Administrator. Since the appointment of the current Council, it had participated in or undertaken the following activities:

  • A week of activities including a panel discussion and a community picnic to mark the 25th anniversary of the Cathedral;

  • 25th anniversary Eucharistic celebration cum farewell mass for Bishop Malzaire;
  • Lenten Retreat
  • Kudos were offered to Mrs. M. Thomas, an ex-officio member of the Council who, along with a group of youth, undertook the hosting of the annual Pentecost Brunch. This activity was carried out with minimal overhead costs;

  • In November, the Council sponsored and organized for the benefit of parishioners, a weekend health forum. Several doctors and other health and fitness promoters made themselves available to provide medical information and counselling, but overall attendance was less than favourable.

  • Council was represented on the Committee for the parish’s main fundraising event, the Christmas Dinner. Members from outstations were encouraged to promote the event. The Chair noted that in its upcoming plans, the task of the Council would be to review the information coming forth from the Assembly and to shape it into short, medium and long-term plans for implementation in various phases throughout the parish.
